A Classic Downtown Detroit Engagement Session at the DIA & Fisher Building
We spent the afternoon exploring two of downtown Detroit’s most iconic locations, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Fisher Building. Both offer such different energy, yet together they create the perfect balance of timeless, romantic, and unmistakably Detroit. Some engagement sessions feel effortless in the best possible way and this one was exactly that.
We started at the Fisher Building where the art deco details, rich tones, and dramatic lines create such a striking backdrop especially when paired with a clean, modern look. It felt effortless. Next stop was the Detroit Institute of Arts, where the architecture alone sets the tone. It’s one of those spaces where you don’t need much direction.
These two were completely at ease together. The kind of comfort you can feel right away. Some of my favorite images from this portion of the session came from the in-between moments
What I love most about sessions like this is the contrast. Grand staircase paired with intimate moments. Historic architecture alongside modern romance. These two Detroit locations complement each other beautifully.
This session was relaxed, unforced, and full of genuine connection. No rushing. No stiff posing. Just the two of them.
